Completion and First Games

The picture above is the models I have completed so far. They are all from Cygnar. From left to right this is what they are:

-Stryker1(pStryker)
-Nemo1
-Centurion
-Charger
-Lancer
-Heavy Jack Kit(Ironclad, Defender, Cyclone)

The Jack kit might not look like much, but it’s because it is magnetized. The rest of the pieces are out of the picture.

The only models I don’t have completely built yet are N3mo and Caitlin Finch. I wasn’t going to be using them so I wanted to concentrate on the others first. Maybe this weekend I will get to them.

Overall the assembly process was pretty smooth. I’m happy with the poses and how everything came out. The only problem I had was a few cases where the glue didn’t stick properly right away and I lost Stryker’s arm. I thought it was a mispack so I contacted Privateer Press. They sent me a new arm and a few new cards that were messed up from my High Command set in a timely manner. I’m very thankful to them! Especially since it turns out it was my mess up and not theirs.

The bases are just simple cork. I cut cork to size for the base from a sheet of cork. Then I ripped the edges of the small pieces so they were rough looking. I used simple wood glue to secure it to the base. Then I “painted” a mixtures of wood glue and water onto the pieces. I had to let this soak in and dry. The reason for doing this is to harden the cork. Then I secured the second piece and applied the mixture again. A few days later they were ready to be used! I’m planning on adding ballast and some grass to the bases, but I don’t have the supplies just yet.

The models are just primed white at the moment. I’m still deciding on a color scheme, but at the moment I’m thinking of a storm grey or blue grey color. It pays homage to the original color while making it look like a storm cloud is rolling across the board.

This past Tuesday I was able to get a few games in at my local game store. Both were against Trollbloods. Both times I lost. But that is okay! I’m still getting used to the rules and still learning to judge distances. I’m taking them as learning opportunities 🙂 I used both of the battle boxes. Stryker is a bit more forgiving since he is better in battle. Nemo is very fragile so he needs protection. I will know what I need to do for next time!

I had a lot of fun with this whole process! I’m excited about future purchases and future games. Right now I’m looking for a storage solution since the models are just sitting out right now. When I bring them somewhere they are just on top of my High Command box.

The Journey Begins

In the previous post I mentioned I was going to be writing about Warmachine. This is the start of my journey.

For Christmas my wonderful wife purchased for me the holiday alternate battlebox and the traditional battlebox for Cygnar. I have been holding off making a purchase of these items because they were on my Christmaslist. Now I can start my journey 🙂

It’s a great start too! This is everything I received:

-Nemo1
-Cygnar Heavy Jack Kit(Defender/Ironclad/Cyclone)
-Metal Centurion
-Nemo3
-Lancer
-Charger
-Ironclad
-Stryker1

I have almost assembled everything. I’m in the middle of the Centurion:

After the Centurion the only thing left is Nemo3 and the Ironclad from the battlebox. Then I have to do the bases, prime the models, and get them mounted. The basing will more than likely happen this weekend. All that will be left after that is to finish the bases with ballast and paint everything. I haven’t 100% settled on a paint scheme yet, but I think I really like the idea of a storm grey or blue-grey color. It pays homage to the actual color but will look like a storm is coming across the table! After all the storm and lightning theme is why I started with Cygnar in the first place 😉

I’m excited to be almost done and have everything table ready. A friend of mine started Convergence at the same time I picked up Cygnar. His models will be ready at the same time. I think next Tuesday will be our forces first engagement. It would be this Tuesday but I can’t make it to the game store this week.

Once every model is done, on their bases, and primed, I will write a post with what I did for everything.

The Great Return!

I am back from the dead!

Wow…. I had forgotten about this WordPress blog until recently. I started a BBM Channel(also called The Gaming Cubicle, PIN: C00335BEB) to chronicle my gaming. This reminded me I had started this a while ago. Admittedly I didn’t realize it was almost 4 years ago!

More posts will be put up here to share my journey of gaming. I recently started Warmachine so there is going to be a good bit of that. I also play High Command, board games, and video games. There will be a little bit of everything available to read.

Check back soon for my post displaying the start of my Cygnar army!
